America has suffered another tragic mass shooting, this time in Las Vegas. During the last night of the Harvest Festival, a three day country music gathering, 64 year-old Stephen Paddock fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The shooting took place during a Jason Aldean concert, killing at least 50 people and injuring over 400. The latest report is that Paddock shot and killed before himself before police could storm his hotel room. The police believe that a woman, Marilou Danley, was traveling with Paddock. There were no signs of a second shooter. Police are unsure of a motive and don’t have any evidence that Paddock was associated with a militant group.
(Opinion) When will this end? People are supposed to be able to live their lives and enjoy music, sporting events, or festivals, without looking over their shoulders for some crazed gunman. How dare this man– in this time of global terrorism–attack his own country? The survivors and families of the victims will forever be haunted by this senseless violence. Our nation mourns.
